These ideas are expressed over the course of nine chapters: Food, Fitness, Nature, Spirituality, Travel, Art, Practice, Languages, and Love. When applied, I hope these useful things will enhance your life as much as they have mine.

Do More. Be More.
When I wrote Useful Things, I set out to compile all of the ideas, activities, and habits that have brought me success in the human experience. This is many years worth of trial-and-error-anecdotes, recipes, and suggestions that have allowed me to grow, learn, teach, and move forward.
There aren’t any tips on how to do these things the fastest or the best or any other superlatives–there are other, more specialized books for that. This book aims to cover a tremendous breadth of the human experience in succinct chapters that, when applied and cultivated, will enhance your time on earth for the rest of your life.
Developing my understanding of these things and engaging in them regularly has made all the difference in my life. And while writing the book was a powerful experience for me, I hope that reading it and applying the ideas within will be powerful for you.
