TUSK – KUATO – THE HUNZ

Tusk was formed in Austin, TX, in 2004. We rehearsed for a solid year before playing at the now-defunct Redrum club in Austin. The band more or less ended when I moved out of the lake house, sold my gear, and moved to Korea.

When I returned from southeast Asia in 2007, we resurrected the band, calling it “Kuato,” and then “The Hunz.” We soon added Ethan Newton as a lead guitarist via a Craigslist ad, and began to incorporate more textural and melodic elements. The goal was to make music we enjoyed playing that had no parameters on time signatures, genres, or subject matter.

We played some fun shows, including a sweltering set in the middle of the day at the ill-fated Rock The Bayou in Houston. The band’s final show was at Fitzgerald’s in Houston, TX.
