I loved two women then, but Amber and I had decent enough chemistry while carousing in our underwear or less. I was disappointed that she was falling in like with one of the camera assistants, but Francois Rousseau managed to make our toilet paper ad look like a fragrance campaign, and we were all happy about that.
Knott’s genius in crafting this is all of the little built-in devices, not the least of which is that whole business of the “key under the stair carpet on the fifth step.” Precise details like this, and their cunning repetition, plant seeds in the minds of the audience that Tony has thought of damn near everything.
In the end, the Bird Collective was a democracy and my script didn’t get voted to be produced. But this main idea still gives me pause:

I was STOKED.
I’d just gotten a call from a casting director offering me the lead role in a martial arts-driven action movie–with Tom Sizemore (Natural Born Killers) and James Hong (Blade Runner)–as a replacement for the original actor who was marooned in Asia.
I spent a good part of the day in an unnamed jacuzzi with a beautiful woman (whom I will name below). I ate a Niçoise salad for lunch while lying in a lawn chair (arranged just so) on the eight million dollar property where we were shooting. At one point, in between bites, I reached up and plucked a couple of kumquats from the nearby tree to cleanse my palate. That really happened.
